The Wimbledon Grand Slam Tournament host, All England Lawn Tennis Club has announced that this year’s Wimbledon grand slam prize money is going to get increased up to 40.8 Million Dollars, which is 12.5 percent more than the last year.
By adding into it, Authorities of grand slam also reported that the winner of the singles competitions would get US 2.8 Million, each 258,000 US Dollars in compare of 2016.
Andy Murray, a British Tennis Player, and Serena Williams representing America, who also not going to play this year as being pregnant, are the current holders of Champions trophy.
“We are proud of the important leadership role that Wimbledon plays locally, nationally, and internationally, and are committed to continuing to invest to secure the future of the Championships, and of our sport, for the years to come,” Philip Brook, Wimbledon chairman said in an interview.
It’s the Sixth time since the Wimbledon officials have increased the amount of prize paid to the winner, the hike of the price went from 18.8 Million US dollars to 40.8 Million Dollars, this data is from 2011 to 2017.
In 2017 Tournament, it will start from 3rd July 2017 and will end on 16th July 2017 with a big finale.
